How Vpster Built Crypto-Only VPS Billing with NOWPayments

Overview

Vpster provides Linux and Windows virtual private servers with a crypto-only checkout. Its services are priced in USD, while customers fund their accounts with cryptocurrency before using that balance to deploy or renew servers.

That model created a specific billing challenge. Vpster needed to accept payments across several blockchain networks while keeping its services priced and billed in USD. Confirmed crypto payments also had to become usable customer balances inside the platform automatically.

Vpster integrated NOWPayments directly into its store to connect those two sides of the business. Customers can pay with supported cryptocurrencies, while Vpster keeps its service catalog and internal billing in USD.

Challenge

Vpster was not adding cryptocurrency as another option alongside cards or bank transfers. Crypto had to support the entire payment flow.

The company needed a setup that could:

  • keep VPS plans and customer balances in USD;
  • accept the specific cryptocurrencies its customers were expected to use;
  • give customers a clear amount to send when funding their account;
  • receive and verify payment status updates;
  • credit confirmed payments to the correct customer balance;
  • connect account funding with VPS deployment and renewals.

Asset support was also important. Vpster wanted Bitcoin, stablecoins, Solana, Litecoin, and Monero alongside the API and signed IPN functionality required for its billing model.

According to Vpster, these requirements were the main reasons it selected NOWPayments. The company did not run a comparison test against other processors. The decision was based on whether the available infrastructure matched the payment flow it wanted to build.

The Solution

Vpster integrated NOWPayments directly into its own store rather than relying on a separate e-commerce plugin.

A USD wallet funded with crypto

Customers fund their Vpster account with cryptocurrency. Once a payment is confirmed, the corresponding value is credited to their USD balance and can be used for VPS services.

The setup separates three parts of the process:

  • Payment: the customer sends cryptocurrency.
  • Billing: Vpster keeps service prices and customer balances in USD.
  • Infrastructure: the balance can be used for deployments and renewals.

This allows Vpster to keep one pricing model across its VPS catalog regardless of which supported asset a customer uses.

Seven selected cryptocurrencies

Vpster currently supports 7 payment options:

AssetNetwork
BitcoinBitcoin
EthereumEthereum
USDTTRC 20
USDCERC 20
SolanaSolana
LitecoinLitecoin
MoneroMonero

Customers can fund their account from $20.

Payment confirmation built into the backend

As confirmed payments determine when funds become available inside a customer account, Vpster needed a reliable way to verify payment status.

NOWPayments sends transaction status updates through IPN, and Vpster verifies the callback signature before crediting the corresponding balance.

This removes the need to check incoming transactions manually and makes payment confirmation part of Vpster’s normal billing workflow.

Implementation

The account funding process is built directly into Vpster:

StageWhat happens
1. Fund accountCustomer chooses how much to add, starting from $20
2. Choose cryptoOne of seven supported payment options is selected
3. Create paymentVpster creates the payment through the NOWPayments API
4. Send fundsThe customer receives the required amount and sends crypto
5. Confirm paymentVpster receives and verifies the payment update through IPN
6. Use balanceThe confirmed value is credited to the USD wallet and can be used for VPS services

According to Vpster, the quoted cryptocurrency amount remains available for approximately 30 minutes, giving customers time to complete the payment before a new quote is required.

Processing time depends on the network. Vpster says USDT on TRC 20 can arrive within minutes, Bitcoin typically takes around ten minutes, and Monero around twenty minutes.

Results

According to Vpster, its public catalog went live on September 8, 2026. Production data from mid September through mid October provides the first quantitative view of how the billing model is being used.

During that period:

  • 11 confirmed NOWPayments invoices were paid and credited to USD wallets;
  • approximately $274 in confirmed invoice value was credited;
  • 4 of the 7 available payment options were used;
  • USDT was the most frequently used asset;
  • customers also completed paid invoices with XMR, SOL, and LTC.

What the early data shows

The results provide more than evidence that the integration is technically live.

All 11 paid invoices reached the stage that matters for Vpster’s business model: confirmed crypto payments were credited to customer USD wallets and became available for VPS services.

The asset mix also supports Vpster’s decision to offer several payment options. During the first reported production period, customers used more than half of the available options rather than relying on a single cryptocurrency.

USDT led early usage, while confirmed payments in XMR, SOL, and LTC show that activity was spread across several assets and networks.

The sample is still small, so these figures should be treated as an early production snapshot rather than a long-term payment trend.

What Changed Beyond Checkout

The wallet model also changes how payment processing fits into Vpster’s wider operation. Rather than connecting every server order to a new blockchain transaction, Vpster handles payment when funds enter the customer account. VPS provisioning can then operate separately from the original crypto transaction.

This helps the company:

  • keep VPS pricing consistent in USD;
  • use the same customer balance for deployments and renewals;
  • separate payment processing from server provisioning.

For Vpster, crypto therefore functions as the funding rail while the rest of the service continues to operate around a USD-based account balance.

Looking Ahead

As the platform grows, Vpster sees merchant discovery as another area where the crypto payment ecosystem could help.

The company would like NOWPayments to introduce a public merchant or partner directory where crypto users could find businesses that already accept digital assets.

Reflecting on the current setup, the Vpster team said:

“NOWPayments is how Vpster funds the USD wallet. Customers send BTC, USDT, Monero, or the other listed coins. We never take a card.”

For Vpster, NOWPayments functions as core billing infrastructure rather than an additional checkout option.
